What is Microblading?
Microblading is the process of implanting colour pigment beneath the surface of the skin by means of a small, sterile, disposable needle to produce the appearance of fuller eyebrows or to enhance the natural features of the face.
How long does microblading last?
The treatment is considered semi-permanent and will not wash off, however, it will fade over time and may need a follow up every 1-2 years. Frequency of follow ups depends on a number of factors including: the pigment colour used (lighter colours fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure, sweat), iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), and if any chemical peels and strong skincare come into contact with treated areas. Please note that results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a crisper look once healed on dry skin compared to more blurry strokes on oily skin.
Follow ups are normal for cosmetic tattoo procedures, with each new procedure requiring a visit. The initial procedure is followed by a follow up procedure if needed about 6-12 weeks later.
How many treatments are needed?
Two treatments are usually needed, at least 6 weeks apart. With most procedures, the colour looks dramatically lighter after the first week. Some clients prefer this, while others opt for a bolder look. At the second treatment, we will assess the colour retention and make adjustments as necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry! We can always go darker and add more density at your next appointment.
Is the follow up appointment included?
No, the follow up appointment is a separate cost.
Does microblading hurt?
Pain varies from person to person, most of our client’s experience little to no pain during the procedure.
How will I look immediately after? What is the healing process?
Your semi-permanent makeup will appear darker and bigger than expected for the first few days. This will gradually lighten during the complete healing process. Please view the detailed aftercare.
Can I get my eyebrows micro bladed if they were previously tattooed
Unfortunately, we do NOT work on previously tattooed/micro bladed eyebrows. Please contact us with any questions.
Can I exercise after getting a cosmetic tattoo?
You must avoid working out for 5-7 days following your cosmetic tattoo appointment. Light exercising is allowed (minimal sweating), but you MUST clean the tattooed area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done exercising. The salt in the sweat will fade the pigment very quickly and give poor results.
Can I get tattooed if I am currently doing chemotherapy?
You must have been cleared by your doctor to get tattooed prior to starting chemotherapy, or once you are finished with the treatments.
Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant or nursing?
As a precaution to avoid any complications, we do NOT perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.
Is Semi-Permanent Make-up safe?
Absolutely! We adhere to the strictest operating procedures for quality to ensure your safety. Meticulous standards of hygiene are followed with the use of disposable cartridges, gloves etc. We are trained to the highest standards, and only use state-of-the-art equipment and pigments.
Does it hurt?
Client comfort is an important aspect of all semi-permanent procedures. We treat according to your comfort levels.
Can I play sport or swim immediately following my procedure?
We recommend that you avoid sport on the day of the procedure, and avoid swimming (fresh or salt water), saunas and steam rooms for at least 7-10 days or until the skin has fully healed as this could cause infection and the tattoo to fade.
How quickly will my procedure heal?
Everyone is different and healing times vary according to your health. The skin surface will heal in under a week, and the basal layers (underneath layers) of the skin take a little longer. This said, there is no real down time if you follow the Post Care Instructions.
How will I look immediately afterwards?
Brows procedures are barely noticeable, usually only appearing slightly darker. Eyes may swell a little, but this generally only lasts for a day. Lips will swell and may remain swollen and chapped in appearance for several days.
Can I wear make-up afterwards?
We advise not to wear cosmetics in the area until the skin has healed as this may cause infection and/or hinder the healing process. Once healed you can wear as much make-up as you wish, although you probably will not need to!
How long does the procedure take?
Most procedures take between 1.5 – 2.5 hours start to finish. It is always allowing more than enough time so that you and your cosmetic tattooist can be relaxed and not be rushed to finish.
Will the enhancement look false or unnatural?
Absolutely not! Our brows, eyeliner and lips are always natural and appealing. We maintain that a person looks best with a ‘fresh faced’ look rather than a heavy unnatural look.
I have suffered with cold sores in the past – will this affect my lip enhancement?
This needs to be discussed with your aesthetician at the consultation. As a preventative measure, you will need to see your doctor prior and take a course of medication to prevent a cold sore break out.
